How to Boot Kali Linux from USB on Windows 10?

In order to create a Bootable USB drive for Kali Linux in Windows 10, first, you must have a USB with 4 GB Storage. If you have a CD/DVD then you can easily use that. That time you won’t need any USB, or any Kali Linux iSO. But However, I am using a USB Stick. If you don’t Know How to Create a Bootable USB Follow the below Procedures.

Step 1. Download & Install Win32 Disk Imager form source forge. Installing is so much easy, that’s why I have not provided any Pictures.

Step 2. Once you installed the Win32 Disk Imager, launch the program.

Step 3. Select Browse and locate the Kali Linux iSO. In front of that locate the USB which you want to create a Bootable USB. When you are done with those portions, select write, to copy the iSO in the USB. There you will face a warning, ignore that by selecting Yes.

Step 4. When the iSO copied, USB will be prompted to format, don’t format that.

Note: If you guys are familiar with other applications which will create a Bootable USB for Kali Linux, You are welcome to use. There are many Applications available like Universal-USB-Installer, Rufus.

Other devices will only allow you to boot into BIOS mode by manually disabling the UEFI security features.

To Dual Boot Windows 10 and Kali Linux both in one Hard Drive, first, you must free some space for Kali Linux from Your Windows Machine. Similarly, if you are already running Kali Linux On Your System, I recommend you to free some space then Install Dual Boot Windows 10 and Kali Linux. If you are on a Windows Operating system, follow the steps to Create Free Space for Kali Linux.

Step 1. Press Windows+ R to open Run Dialog Box. When it opens type their diskmgmt.msc to open Disk Management console.

Step 2. Basically, Kali Linux Needs 20 GB Storage, by which 4 GB will be the swap Area inside the Hard Drive. Drive C:\ of my system is 127 GB, where I will be shrinking 30 GB for Kali Linux. Swap Area is a specified space on a Hard Disk. It is also part of the Virtual Memory of your machine. In other words it is a combination of RAM and Hard Disk.

Step 3. Once you created Free space for Kali Linux, Don’t create that a new drive. Because while partitioning it will be erased.

Step 4. Now that we have created a Bootable USB & specified some space, let’s get started with installing of Kali Linux in Windows 10 by restarting the system.

Please take backup of your files before starting with How to Dual Boot Windows 10 and Kali Linux? Otherwise you will lose everything, as I did. 

Step 1. After restarting the system, lead yourself to the boot & select USB Drive.

Step 2. After selecting USB, select Graphical Install in the Boot Menu of Kali Linux. If you will be installing Kali Linux in Hyper-v for dual Booting it, instead of Graphical Install it will start Installer.

Step 3. Select your language, location, then configure your keyboard.

Step 4. On the Configure Your Network Window, type a Host Name for the system.

Step 5. If you have a Domain Network, go ahead and Join, if you are simply a home user, leave it empty.

Step 6. Here, you need to set a password for the system administrator account. Please be sure don’t leave it empty otherwise the root account will be disabled. We will simple put the password “toor” but you have to set a complex password.

Step 7. Be careful with partitioning, other you would format your Hard Disk, as we did once. In the Partition disk section, select Manual & click Continue.

Step 8. Scroll down, select free space & click continue. Remember right now, I am dual booting Windows 10 & Kali Linux inside Hyper-V. The actual PC will have more drives, like Recovery Drive, System Reserved Drive & if you have created other Drives too. If you want the actual Picture, I can provide you that. Just Let me know.

Step 9. Select Create a New Partition & click Continue.

Step 10. Specify the amount of storage for the root system. Remember, what I said above, 4 GB must be for Swap Area.

Step 11. Select beginning, that the drive should be created at the beginning of the available space.

Locate the Drive in Free Space

Step 12. In the Partition disk, select Boot flag and select yes. Then instead of off, it will be written on. First, turn it on then select done setting up the partition and continue.

Step 13. Once you click continue, you will be back to the all partition section. Again select the free space, create a new partition with same settings as we created before except the boot flag.

Step 14. Now we need to specify this drive as a swap area. So, select the use us in the partition disk.

Step 15. Select Swap Area from the options and click continue. Once you did that select done setting up the partition and click continue.

Step 16. Now in the main Hard Disk Options select Finish partitioning & write changes to the disks.

Step 17. Here are the disks which will be formatted, So make sure that those are the drives which will be formatted. If they we weren’t the drive which you had created, go back fix them.

Step 18. Now, wait until the installation to be complete.

Step 19. While installing the system, it will be asking you to join Network mirror, select no & go on.

Step 20. When the Installation is Complete, Select continue & system will restart.

Step 21. Once the system is restarted, select Kali Linux between Windows 10 & Kali Linux.

Step 22. Insert your User Name & Password & enjoy the dual boot of Windows 10 & Kali Linux.

step 1. download Kali Linux and VirtualBox and install it
step 2. Specify the memory amount step 3. Create a new virtual hard disk click create a button

step 5. Just click install it is done.
